FICTIONAL CASE STUDY

Context:  The Sunny Valley Purple Martin Association is a non-profit organization that educates the local community about Purple Martins to increase the population through education and support groups.

Challenge: Due to ongoing construction in the community and a diminishing number of human-supplied nesting sites for Purple Martins, the estimated population in the local community has declined by nearly 50% in the past decade.

Solution: A free eLearning course was designed for the Sunny Valley Purple Martin Association's webpage to help reach more of the local community and educate them on how they can help save the species by housing and properly caring for Purple Martin colonies.

Result: After advertising through the local media outlets and leaving the free eLearning course on the website for one year, membership increased by 45%, and an additional 20 documented Purple Martin housing units were placed around the county. With these additional 20 units, the association estimates that the area will see approximately 720 fledglings annually.
