FICTIONAL CASE STUDY
Context: KB Dental (fictional company) is a nationwide dental corporation that focuses on general dentistry and orthodontics, with over 3,000 dental professionals working in forty states within the United States.
Challenge: Over a 12-month timeframe, there was a 25% increase in accident reports, including accidental exposures to bloodborne pathogens. With the knowledge that certification and licensure of dental professionals vary between states combined with the rise in accident reports, the company determined a need for infection control training.
Solution: An online infection control course was developed as part of the onboarding process for the company. This animated review video guided learners through a simple recall activity after viewing the video titled "Steps to Take After a Bloodborne Exposure".
Result: Twelve months after the training, the company saw a 30% decrease in accident reports, including bloodborne exposure incidents. Staff surveyed found the infection control review helpful.
